Top tips to reduce your energy consumption

Reduce your energy consumption = reduced bills + better for the planet. Whether or not you have a solar energy system installed at home, there are many things you can do to reduce your consumption.

Energy-Efficient Lighting

•       Replace incandescent bulbs with energy-efficient LED or CFL bulbs.

•       Use task lighting and turn off lights in unoccupied rooms.

•       Install motion sensors or smart lighting systems to automatically control lighting.


Appliance Efficiency

•       Choose Energy Star-rated appliances when purchasing new ones.

•       Unplug chargers, electronics, and small appliances when not in use.

•       Set your refrigerator and freezer to optimal temperatures and clean their coils regularly.


Heating and Cooling

•       Seal gaps and insulate windows and doors to prevent drafts.

•       Use programmable thermostats to regulate heating and cooling based on your schedule.

•       Service your HVAC system regularly to ensure optimal performance.

•       Fix leaks promptly.

Behavioural Changes

•       Wash clothes in full loads and use a clothesline or drying rack.

•       Cook with lids on pots to reduce cooking time and energy consumption.

•       Agree regular digital detox weekends – give screen time and smart device charging and watching a break now and then, and give your usage a break.
